The event will discuss the bus segmentation research commissioned by the Department for Transport: Increasing bus patronage through an audience strategy - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The session will include:

  • Overview of the bus segmentation strategy and dashboard (12:00 – 12:30)

  • Cornwall Council case study: Using segmentation findings to influence decision-making (12:30 – 13:00)

  • Q&A (13:00 – 13:15)

Anyone is welcome, however the event will be particularly of interest to local authorities, policy makers and bus operators.

Speakers

Rosie Samuel, DfT Social Researcher

Rosie has worked in transport research for several years, including at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds. Now working as a social researcher at the Department for Transport, Rosie has worked on a range of research and evaluation projects within the Local and Regional Transport team, including the Bus Segmentation project.

Melanie Watson, MW Associates PTS Ltd

Melanie has spent over 20 years working in public transport, holding key roles within TFL, TFGM and Cornwall Council prior to becoming an independent consultant. This has covered project delivery, strategy development, operational delivery and partnership development. Melanie has most recently delivered the Bus Fares Pilot in Cornwall and continues to support TFGM developing their governance as they transition to franchising.
