About this Event
This in-person event is aim at those with an interest in transport planning, bus service providers and those involved in the planning of public transport to improve social mobility and unlocking societal benefits. This is open to all at various stages of their career; from students through to experienced professionals.
The guest-speakers will take you through the processes of defining and understanding the potential societal benefit objectives that could be unlocked when developing routes for buses and how this is achieved. Also, they will discuss what impacts poor bus route planning can have on society.
This event will also offer the opportunity for Q&A and networking with likeminded professionals in the industry.
Speakers
Stelios Rodoulis, Rural Mobility & Supporting Network Lead (Integrated Passenger Transport Unit) at Essex County Council
Stelios has 10 years’ experience in the transport industry. His academic background includes transport and urban planning.
Stelios has graduated from the London School of Economics, University of Reading and Westminster University.
Stelios is passionate about driverless technology and its impact on cities. He was a member of the Volterra Jacobs team which was one of the finalists for the Wolfson Economics Prize 2017, the largest economics prize in the world after the Nobel Prize. The team’s proposal to combat congestion and ensure the sustainability of future road maintenance, included a combination of dynamic road pricing, CAVs and Blockchain.
Liani Baglietto Castellares, Planner at Arup
Liani is a Planner specialised in stakeholder engagement, inclusive urban mobility, active travel, transport decarbonisation and place-based development. She currently leads the Social Value workstream of the Bus Service Improvements Programme (BSIP), helping maximize the opportunities for the delivery of value to all groups of society through investment in buses. She also has international experience, such as leading the Stakeholder Engagement activities in large scale infrastructure programmes in Peru.
Currently Liani is a board member of the Transport Planning Society, supporting the promotion of Social Value through institutional activities and improved reach of bi-directional communications. She believes that only by listening to people with diverse points of view is that we can develop more resilient strategies, projects, and urban environments.
