This webinar will explore how the Cost Monitor came about and how it can be useful for operators, local authorities, and other key stakeholders. We will discuss the approach and methodology used in the survey and explain how we reach the results.
Presenters:
Chris Cheek BA FCILT MCMI, has worked in the public transport industry for over 52 years, the last 37 as an analyst, writer and consultant. After joining the National Bus Company as a Senior Management Trainee in 1972, he held several line management posts in bus and coach operations, later moving on to marketing and tourism. He was a director of consultancy firm The TAS Partnership from 1994 until 2016. In 1996, he helped to found the UK Bus Awards and has helped to run them ever since. He is the author of Understanding Buses, a non-technical, jargon-free guide to how the bus industry works and recently published Britain’s Buses in a New Era, a highly-praised survey of the industry’s future prospects. He has been working with CPT on the Cost Monitor since 2022.
Keith McNally is the Operations Director for CPT. Keith has responsibility for engaging with a range of Government and industry stakeholders and for representing CPT on a wide variety of strategic operational matters. He leads the CPT Operations Team, providing operational & technical support to CPT members. He coordinates the Cost Monitor for CPT, working closely with Chris who collates the data and produces the reports. Prior to joining CPT, Keith worked for two multinational travel and transport organisations in a variety of roles that included managing bus operations, strategic planning and managing major projects. His experience covers European and Australian, as well as UK transport operations.
