Webinar: Defining the appropriate roles for DRT services

A wide range of views is evident on the appropriate roles of Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), with a tendency of discuss this form of bus transport in isolation from others. This webinar sets out common criteria by which to assess both DRT and fixed route services, including policy objectives, cost, efficiency, user benefits, and journey time. From these, the scope of each type of service can be defined, illustrated with examples from recent experience.

Professor Peter White, FCILT

Peter White is Emeritus Professor of Public Transport Systems at the University of Westminster. He is the author of the book ‘Public Transport: Its planning, management and operation (now in its 6th edition) and numerous other papers and reports. His research has evaluated the impacts of many innovations in public transport, including high-frequency urban minibuses, data from smartcards and effects of regulatory changes.
