Enhanced Partnership’s Chair Conference covering Transport East, Transport for the South East and England’s Economic Heartland

The three Sub-national Transport bodies and Suffolk County Council, along with the Bus Centre of Excellence are pleased to invite you to a one-day in-person conference on 9 July 2024.

This will be a great, early opportunity to inform and influence the new Government following the General Election. Your experiences of how bus policy is working on the ground will be collated into advocacy document and presented to new Ministers, DfT officials and made available to all Enhanced Partnerships. This pan-regional perspective will be a valuable insight into the challenges, opportunities and levers that can increase the impact of bus networks for our communities.

Across the three Sub-National Transport Bodies 35 Local Transport Authorities have worked in partnership with their local bus operators and a total of 32 Enhanced Partnerships are now in place. These Enhanced Partnerships are at different stages of development; some have been in existence for two years, some a few months.

This event is a unique chance for Enhanced Partnership Chairs and Managers to discuss how Enhanced Partnerships have formed and evolved. This process has required significant effort from all parties involved and this will be a space to take stock and identify ways to maximise the impact of the EP in the future. The conference will concentrate on bringing the wealth of knowledge and experience from across the regions together to share learning and explore how to build on joint progress for the benefit of all.

The event will consist of two sessions:

Morning session - Delivering a successful Enhanced Partnership

To collectively identify the key factors that have made a difference to delivering a successful Enhanced Partnership through:

  • Comparing how Enhanced Partnerships have formed or evolved – what has worked well and what has not worked so well

  • Discussing innovation and good practice

  • Identifying what support has been vital to establishing the Enhanced Partnerships, including exploring the impact of different levels of funding.

Afternoon Session - Driving forward Enhanced Partnerships

To collectively develop a series of recommendations for Enhanced Partnerships to reflect on what is relevant for their location and what funding and support they need from government and wider industry partners to continue to deliver successful Enhanced Partnerships:

  • Focus 1 – up to the end of current BSIP funding in 2024/2025

  • Focus 2 – up to 2030

  • Focus 3 – wider policy and legislative support.

Please note spaces are limited and to maximise coverage across our regions, attendance at the event is focussed on EP Chairs and EP Managers for EPs within the Transport East, Transport for the South East and England’s Economic Heartland regions. If the EP Chair and Manager can not attend please contact bcoe@ciht.org.uk to discuss an alternative attendee.
